Unistrut is expanding its product development and increasing production capacity at its West Bromwich site. The development forms part of a £1m investment in new production plant and relocation of some of Unistrut’s European manufacture to West Bromwich.
New manufacturing plant has been installed at the West Bromwich factory to speed up the production of the rolled steel channel sections that form the basis of the framing systems and the cable management products. This includes an ‘accumulator’ unit which allows the channel forming presses to operate continuously. Automated pick-and-place systems, welding plant and final packing have also been introduced along with new CNC-controlled press brakes and turret punches. As a result speed of production has been increased by nearly 70%.
