GTEC Training awarded funding to expand green skills courses

GTEC Training has secured £978,840 from the UK Government’s Warm Homes scheme to deliver courses that upskill installers and support the transition to net zero across the UK.

The allocation will fund 40 retrofit qualifications, 410 solar PV training courses and 770 online insulation training courses. The programmes combine theory and practical learning aimed at helping existing trades add complementary low-carbon services and raise competency.

The move targets one of the sector’s pressing bottlenecks: the need to scale a workforce capable of decarbonising homes and buildings at pace. GTEC says the expanded offer will sit alongside its established portfolio of renewables and energy-efficiency training.

Heat network training to follow

In addition to the Warm Homes award, GTEC has been confirmed for further UK Government funding to deliver fully funded heat network training, intended to equip more professionals to install and maintain low-carbon heating systems in domestic and commercial settings.

The training provider’s curriculum spans heat pumps, solar photovoltaics, battery storage, solar thermal, biomass, EV charging and energy efficiency, alongside related plumbing and electrical courses, health and safety, and professional services.
