Components group achieves upgraded ISO accreditation

Magnetic components specialist ETAL Group has achieved accreditation for power and signal applications to the latest ISO9001:2015 quality standard, well ahead of the deadline for compliance. 

Dan Phelan, president of ETAL congratulated the quality management team on achieving the new standard quickly, with no non-conformances. Phelan commented: “ETAL takes quality extremely seriously. By achieving the new standard early, we are supporting our customers in their own ISO9001 journey. [The standard] reflects a new philosophy which ensures that the whole organisation is fully engaged with quality – a philosophy that [we] embrace fully. Achieving the new standard will increase customer confidence, and has helped us become more efficient as an organisation and reduce waste.”
 
ISO9001:2015 is the first major upgrade to the standard since 2000, and includes greater emphasis on building a management system suited to the organisation’s particular needs. Innovations include measures to ensure that the leaders of an organization are fully involved with quality management and held accountable. The new standard brings in risk-based thinking to make the systems a preventive tool and a platform for continuous improvement. The deadline for achieving compliance is September 2018, after which an organisation not accredited to the new standard is no longer compliant.
 
The new accreditation covers ETAL Group in Stockholm, together with ETAL (UK) based in Ditchling and the recently acquired Grandchain operation in Lewes for the design, production, sales and distribution of inductive components, amplifiers and related assemblies. The Group has manufacturing subsidiaries in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka and Narva, Estonia, which are also working towards the new standard, and expect to achieve it well ahead of the deadline.
 
ETAL manufactures and sells in-house developed high-performance magnetic components such as transformers and inductors, which are used in AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters and signal applications. Target markets include the telecom, power technology, automotive, industrial and defence industries. The majority of components are custom-designed for specific applications but ETAL also offers a range of standard components.
