Facing the elements at showground
Lewden Electrical was the preferred supplier for the project to replace the heavy duty distribution feeder pillars for the recently refurbished electrical installation at the Royal Cornwall Showground.
The existing feeder pillars, which are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, were extremely compact and crude in design, featuring a drop over access lid that had to be removed in order to gain access to the fuse holders. Removing the lid also exposed live busbars which posed a potential hazard to installation engineers.
Installed by Southern Electric Contracting (SEC) of Bodmin, Lewden supplied custom built IP65 watertight free standing enclosures manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel and finished in a textured green powder coat to blend in with the surroundings. Attached to a galvanised detachable ground fixing frame, the units have front and rear lockable access doors to allow easy access for the installer, whilst maximising cable routing and termination areas.
