UK Power Networks set to install 1,000 EV chargers for Yorkshire Water

Yorkshire Water has invested in a new fleet of light commercial vehicles that are electrically powered, with the company now needing the infrastructure to charge those vehicles. Working with UK Power Networks Services, the company identified 81 sites across Yorkshire which can support electric vehicle chargers.
The first site to get the new chargers will be Yorkshire Water’s training academy in Bradford, where staff use Renault Zoes and Nissan e-NV200s and deliver training for the company’s 4,000 employees in the region.
Following the installation at Bradford, additional electric vehicle chargers will be installed at more sites to support further Renault Zoes and Nissan e-NV200s, as well as new Nissan Townstars and Vauxhall e-Vivaros, which are being rolled out across all Yorkshire Water departments.
UK Power Networks Services will both install and maintain the fleet of chargers, which will be powered by renewables at some of Yorkshire Water’s sites.
Nicola Shaw, CEO at Yorkshire Water, commented, “We have committed to achieving net zero operational emissions by 2030, and part of that ambition includes transitioning all our vehicles to zero or ultra-low emissions. Working with UK Power Networks Services to develop the supporting infrastructure for all our light commercial vehicles to be electric powered is an important step to making that a reality and will allow our teams to use electric vehicles to their full potential.”

We often receive enquiries asking how a large vehicle fleet can electrify in a matter of years.
