Smith Brothers to install 50MW Ferrymuir battery storage project

Smith Brothers Contracting Ltd has been awarded a contract to install a new 50MW battery energy storage project in Fife, Scotland. 

Delivered on behalf of Gore Street Energy Storage Fund, Smith Brothers will be responsible for the project’s embedded generation which, when complete, will connect the power source to the Scottish Power Energy Networks distribution network. 

Under the scope of works, Smith Brothers will be responsible for contestable deliverables, including the laying of an 800m grid connection cable route, as well as construction of the site’s 33kV substation building.

Design work on the site is currently underway, with energisation set for October 2022.
