Schneider Electric named ‘world’s most sustainable company’ by Time

Schneider Electric has been named as the ‘world’s most sustainable company’ as part of a new list released by Time and Statista. 

While Schneider Electric’s technology is being used by many companies around the world to help them decarbonise, the French electrical giant has also been making moves to improve its own green credentials. 

From a pool of over 5,000 companies, Time and Statista managed to rank the companies based on their sustainability ratings, corporate reporting practices, and environmental and social performance indicators, ultimately leading to a list of 500 of the most sustainable companies from more than 30 countries.

For Schneider Electric, Time and Statista specifically acknowledged the impact of the company’s Sustainability Impact (SSI) program. The program, which runs from 2021 to 2025, tracks the company's progress towards its sustainability goals, which address various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions. 

Since 2018, Schneider Electric’s initiatives have resulted in a reduction of 553 million tonnes of CO2 emissions for its customers. Additionally, carbon emissions from the company’s top 1,000 suppliers have decreased by 27% since the start of the program, with 21% of its most strategic suppliers meeting Schneider Electric’s standards for decent work.

The recognition from Time and Statista is just the latest in a line of accolades for Schneider Electric, including its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the 13th consecutive year, where it was ranked #1 in its industry and maintained a position in the Europe index.
