Riello UPS Ireland names Ian Jackson as new MD

Riello UPS Ireland has named Ian Jackson as its new Managing Director, giving him responsibility for the business as it settles into its new headquarters at H2 Baldonnell Business Park, Dublin 22.

The appointment comes less than two years after the Italian-owned manufacturer – Europe’s second-largest producer of uninterruptible power supplies – set up its seventeenth overseas branch in Ireland. The subsidiary recently moved from Ballycoolin to a facility the firm says will support its next phase of growth across data centre, pharmaceutical, med-tech, aviation, fintech and telecoms markets.

Jackson brings more than a quarter-century of commercial and technical know-how to the role. In 2003 he founded Pure Power Systems, becoming the first Irish distributor of Riello UPS kit. He ran the independent firm for nearly two decades before selling it to a US multinational in 2017. An electrical engineering graduate of TU Dublin, he also holds an MBA and a postgraduate certificate in energy systems and decarbonisation from Dublin City University.

“I was very fortunate to be the first Irish distributor of Riello UPS systems when I formed Pure Power Systems back in 2003 and am now privileged to directly represent this wonderful company in Ireland,” noted Jackson.

“I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with my many colleagues throughout the industry and leading our fantastic team to offer the very best in critical power products and services.”

Day-to-day, Jackson will spearhead efforts to raise the brand’s profile and strengthen service support for its installed base, which ranges from small office UPS units to multi-megawatt systems guarding mission-critical data centres and industrial plants.

He will work closely with Leo Craig, long-standing Managing Director of Riello UPS Ltd in the UK, who previously oversaw both the UK and Irish operations.
