Osprey Charging to expand EV charging options at Shell forecourts

Osprey Charging has announced a new partnership with Shell, which will see the company fully fund, install and operate a network of 175kW Tritium chargers under the Shell Recharge brand. 

The new units will be located at franchised Shell forecourts across the UK, with Osprey Charging having been selected as Shell’s preferred partner for the roll-out of new EV chargers. The firm has already begun installation work at several sites, with the first 175kW charger already operational at Shell Hovefield. 

While Osprey offers its own charging network, all chargers at Shell forecourts will form part of the Shell Recharge network. That’s despite Osprey fully funding the installation of the chargers, with Shell just providing the land. Despite this, the company will still benefit from a revenue sharing agreement, meaning it should still turn a profit from those using the device for a rapid charge. 

Bernie Williamson, Shell UK general manager, commented, “For electric vehicle use to grow more rapidly, drivers need to feel confident that there are convenient and reliable means of recharging their vehicles when they are traveling.

“With Osprey supporting the development of our EV charging offer at dealer-owned sites, we will be able to continue serving busy customers at convenient locations as we aim to be the leading brand for on-the-go rapid charging.”

Osprey is not just in the business of developing other company’s networks, however, with the firm also recently bolstering its own EV charging network. It became the first operator in Europe to install the Tritium RTM75 rapid charger at Gosport in the UK.
