Modern apprenticeships for utilities sector
A national training provider to the utilities sector has won a contract from Skills Development Scotland to deliver Modern Apprenticeships.
The new round of funding will cover at least 45 new apprenticeship places.
Chris Wood, chief executive of DTL, said: "We are delighted to have been successful with our tender to Skills Development Scotland. Winning this contract will enable us to deliver more apprenticeships for new customers, and extend our role in helping to tackle the industry’s chronic skills shortage.”
DTL delivers a range of programmes in the water and gas sectors, including network construction, domestic national gas installation and maintenance, and level seven management apprenticeships.
Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) help employers develop their workforce by training new staff, and up-skilling existing employees. Open to candidates aged 16 upwards, MAs let people earn a wage while gaining an industry-recognised qualification.
