Power Continuity Systems won the contract for the major power protection systems upgrade to the head office for national operations of Britannia Building Society.
PowerContinuity Systems worked with the national building society, founded in 1856, to install a new N+2 resilient uninterruptible power supply system combined with diesel generators, as part of a major overhaul of the head office in Leek, Staffordshire.
Britannia Building Society stipulated that the power protection system to be installed need to be a 100%, totally resilient and installed whilst its existing operational systems continued uninterrupted. The main contractor was required to provide a guarantee that there would be no disruption to their services, what so ever and that the work would be completed on time and in budget.
Power Continuity Systems were entrusted as the main contractor with the design, supply, installation and maintenance of the bespoke power protection system. The project for the power protection upgrade required removal of the existing aged uninterruptible power supplies and replacement with a bespoke 1.25 Megawatt UPS, including a complete new power distribution system, incorporated within the head office.
Power Continuity Systems protected the operational infrastructure during the removal of the existing uninterruptible power supply system with their own mobile UPS containerised power units. This allowed Britannia Building Society to work without any disruption during the replacement and upgrade of the entire power protection system. Power Continuity Systems completed the work on time and within the allocated budget.
The new system now provides ‘state of the art’ N+2 total resilience, combined with emergency diesel generators, which providing back up protection for the financial operations of the Britannia Building Society. In the event of any National Grid power outage, the day to day operations of the Britannia Building Society will never be disrupted.
Dean Moss the project manager of Britannia Building Society stated, "As a result of their works performed, Britannia Building Society would like to recommend Power Continuity Systems for their professionalism and competence for any resilient power protection UPS and generator system."
