Boulting apprenticeship scheme shows optimism for future

Warrington-based engineering firm, Boulting Group, is taking positive steps towards future skills availability with the appointment of eight apprentices across its diverse business units.

"We feel it is important to maintain the future skill levels to operate effectively within the construction engineering industry, and future skills planning has been given a high priority," said Terry Marston, the Boulting director responsible for the apprenticeship scheme.

"Our long history illustrates how many apprentices have developed to take key roles in our business over the years, and underpins the company's standing in the sector," added Marston. "We are delighted to be employing these young people and look forward to them having long, happy and successful careers with us."

In the North West, Robbie Stanley will complete his apprenticeship in electrical installation, working out of the head office in Warrington. Stephen Pester, Liam Gough and Simon Bisset will train as electrical wiremen and will be based at the electrical switchgear and MCC manufacturing facility at Penketh, Warrington.

In Boulting's mechanical department, Thomas O'Kane and Richard Clancy will train as pipefitters and John O'Kane will train as a  mechanical technician, all based at the mechanical fabrication workshop s in St. Helens.

Finally, Michael Higgins will complete his apprenticeship in electrical installation in Scotland, operating from the company's Grangemouth office.
