ECA CEO backs PAS 91

Steve Bratt, the CEO of the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) has backed the PAS 91 ‘Pre-Qualification in Construction' Document, which was launched today.

"The ECA fully supports the publication of PAS 91 and we are pleased to see that it is being endorsed across the construction sector," he said. "It's important that this significant document is now adopted by the industry or, when more information is required, used as a point of reference. Hopefully this will emphasise assessing contractor's capabilities over producing red tape, moving the focus towards achieving value rather than creating extra expense and uncertainty.

"For our members PAS 91 will help to provide consistent prequalification questionnaires, saving them having to respond to different questionnaires. Clients will also benefit from a simpler, clearer pre-qualification regime."

As well as contributing to the consultation on PAS 91, ECA's Head of Safety and Environment Paul Reeve played an instrumental role in drafting the standard on behalf of the ECA and Specialist Engineering Contractors' Group (SEC).
