Compact vandal-proof illuminated keypads are waterproof
Foremost Electronics, the Essex-based specialist distributor of electromechanical components announces the introduction of two vandal resistant metal keypads. Responding to increasing demand for secure and rugged security switching these compact, low profile, metal keypads may be used in public and industrial environments for access control, security, data-entry, vending machines and kiosks, environmental control and service access. The keypads are ideal for use in low light conditions as they feature LED illumination in a choice of blue, green or yellow.
Both keypads feature metal keys waterproof to IP67 and are rear panel mounted through a single large cut-out with an optional rubber gasket for additional weatherproof sealing.
Two versions are available, the AK-304-N-SSL-WP-MM 3 x 4 numeric key only keypad or the AK-1604-N-SSL-WP-MM 4 x 4 numeric plus a row of "A,B,C,D" lettered keys. Custom legend options are available with a minimum order quantity of 2,000 pcs plus nominal tooling costs.
Switch contact ratings are 20mA @ 24VDC with maximum contact resistance of 200?. Life expectancy is 2,000,000 cycles per key with an operating temperature of -40 to +60°C. The LED illumination requires a nominal 3.5VDC supply, alternatively keypads may be specified without illumination
Alan Cook, managing director of Foremost Electronics comments, "Our rugged waterproof keypads open up new markets for Foremost in the security access and industrial markets. There is a growing demand for waterproof, secure switching and control and we are very pleased to be introducing these two products to satisfy these markets."
