A valuable investment in the future
When Roytel Communication Services encountered a problem on a large and complex optical fibre installation, the XC850 cross-checking reflectometer from Megger was employed.
A trace obtained from the XC850 reflectometer showed a heavy transmission loss was occurring in the network segment immediately adjacent to a patchcord.
“Without the XC850, this fault would have been very hard to find,” said Mike Whyham of Roytel, “and we would probably have had to spend a lot of money hiring fibre test equipment. The cost of the Megger instrument meant we could buy it outright, providing ourselves with an invaluable test resource for use not only on this occasion, but on all of our future fibre projects.”

Why green technology demands a new approach to electrical safety
As buildings generate, store and consume power in new ways, Richard Winter explores why electrical safety needs to evolve with electrification.

Electrical safety doesn’t end with the inspection
Dan Sedgwick argues that electrical safety depends on more than the inspection – the records must survive long enough to support what comes next.

Are building operators owning their systems – or just renting access?
Who really controls a building once it is operational? Chris Timmins of IOTech Systems explores the growing case for open, edge-led systems.
