Independent nuclear overview published

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), has announced the launch of Nuclear Power by Janet Wood, the first in a new series of paperback books on the energy sector for 2007.
Nuclear Power covers the history of nuclear fission, reactor design, nuclear safety and operating experience, as well as the UK privatisation experience and how the sector may develop in the UK in the light of the government’s energy review.
Nick Canty, publishing director, IET said: “This book covers the debate over the pros and cons of nuclear power. It is expensive, dangerous and inflexible? Or is nuclear power an opportunity to invest in a long-term, large-scale electricity source that will assist in the battle against climate change? Nuclear Power is the ideal book for anyone wanting an overview of the industry, whether they are experienced engineers working in the sector, or students at university.”
The new paperback series aims to give an independent overview of energy industries that can be read from the chartered engineer with 20 years experience to an undergraduate on an engineering degree course.
