Two new shows to address electrical and electronic compliance

Following the success of The Southern Electrical & Electronic Directives Show (SEEDS) 2004, the event’s organisers, EMC Resources, will repeat the venture on 22 March 2005.

EMC will also launch two complimentary conferences: NEEDS and ScotEEDS. SEEDS 2005 will be held in Newbury, while NEEDS 2005 and ScotEEDS 2005 will be held on 5 April in Bolton and 8 March at SECC, Glasgow respectively.

The theme of all three shows will be current and future European directives that affect the electrical and electronic industries. These will include the Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive, the Energy using Products (EuP) Directive, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, the Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, the Low Voltage Directive and the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD).

“In the time leading up to EEDS 2005 a number of these directives will undergo changes,” explained Graham Mays, the show organiser. “The EMC directive will change due to the Simpler Legislation for the Internal Market initiative due to be published, the WEEE and RoHS directives will be on the statute books and will thus be in their implementation phase and a proposal for the new EuP Directive is likely to be available. Transposition of the GPSD should also be nearing completion.”

Each EEDS 2005 show will comprise a full day conference with an associated tabletop exhibition to demystify such legislation.

The conference will address the needs of designers, manufacturers, importers, exporters, retailers and third party maintenance and service suppliers whose products have an electrical or electronic content.
