Powered On, a brand-new podcast from Electrical Review, is out now

Powered On, a brand-new podcast from Electrical Review, is finally here after months of behind the scenes work. This new podcast will shine a light on the important issues facing the electrical industry.

While there are other podcasts out there designed to keep the electrical industry informed, Powered On is a new take on the format. We hope to not only keep you informed through debates and discussion, but we also want to keep you entertained.

We’re going to be taking a light-hearted look at the electrical industry, with fun facts, a lot of arguments and maybe a tangent or two. We promise not to take ourselves too seriously, but that doesn’t mean you won’t learn something new from the Powered On podcast. In fact, we hope to both inform you and entertain you. 

The very first episode is out now on pretty much all popular podcast platforms, whether that’s Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Deezer, Stitcher, Amazon Music - just about all of them. Well, except one pesky service that we’re still waiting for approval, although we hope to secure that soon - sorry Google Podcasts users. 

In the first episode, we’re discussing all things National Grid and the upcoming target of net zero. We’ll look at whether Ofgem is right about further independence for National Grid ESO, or if it’s fine just the way it is.

There’s been a lot of debate as to whether National Grid ESO is capable of being an impartial party in the transition to net zero, so we wanted to shine a light on this subject, especially considering Ofcom recently recommended it be made independent! 

Also in this episode, we look back at the origins of the electrical grid, as well as what may have preceded its roll-out here in the UK. 

It’s a jam-packed first episode, but there’s more to come. We’re planning on releasing new episodes every fortnight. You can catch the next episode on Friday, April 30 at 1pm on all the usual platforms. That episode will be discussing the Green Revolution and the Government’s current strategy (or lack thereof as the case may be).
