Specialist cable installed at police HQ
A police headquarters has installed specialist Firetec products from AEI Cables in its newly refurbished building for its renowned fire protection qualities.
The designers of North Wales Police HQ, based in the seaside town of Colwyn Bay, wanted to reduce the carbon footprint and increase comfort levels following a blaze which destroyed the building in April 2008.
AEI Cables' Firetec Enhanced and Firetec Standard cabling was chosen for the building's fire detection and alarm systems, lighting and switchgear.
The cabling was supplied by Deakin Electrical Supplies of Rhyl, part of the Edmundson Electrical Group. Main contractor was Lloyd Morris, Anglesey.
Meanwhile, the Rhyl police station has also chosen AEI Cables Firetec Enhanced and Standard cabling for its new fire alarm and detection systems. Supply was by Deakin Electrical and main contractor was Bebbington and Wilson, Prestatyn.
Alan Bradbury, regional sales manager for AEI Cables, said: "It is important that these large public building refurbishments are well protected for fire, especially where large numbers of people are moving about daily."
