The season of goodwill

A married couple has paid $25,000 to cover the electricity bills for the 650 residents of Anthon, Iowa.

Richard Hamann, 75, and his wife say they covered the bills, all due on 25 December, to show their appreciation to God and the friendly community.

A desk in their home office is covered with thank-you letters.
