Zero Carbon Footprint Building: Emerging Technologies and Policy Implementation

Zero Carbon Footprint Building: Emerging Technologies and Policy Implementation

Wed 19 November 2008

The IET - Savoy Place - London - UK

How far away is the creation of the zero-carbon home?

The Government is aiming that all new-build homes will be zero-carbon by 2016. This event will examine the engineering and design challenges involved in bringing this to market and will review the latest technologies available to engineers, architects and the construction industry to enable them to create the carbon-neutral building.

It will include a look at how zero carbon homes can be achieved by 2016, and debate the policies that will begin to deliver a zero carbon housing stock.

Interbuild 2008

Interbuild 2008

Sun 26 October 2008 - Thu 30 October 2008

Stanley Tools is ready to rumble as one of Interbuild's exhibitors at the 2008 event (Sunday 26 through to Thursday 30 October).

Featuring a full-sized boxing ring and all the accompanying paraphernalia, The Stanley Interbuild Arena will play host to a series of tool-to-tool battles with contenders drawn from the thousands of attending visitors.

The format, which continues the competitive theme of last year's popular Stanley Tools Judgement Day Challenge, is sure to be one of the show's biggest hitters.

The ring-fenced area will complement Stanley's stand presence within Interbuild's infamous Truck & Tool section.  Traditionally one of the show's busiest areas, the hive of activity in Hall 4 is entirely geared towards the professional trades, buzzing with ‘live' product and expert demonstrations.

Interbuild has once again joined forces with electrical and lighting internet portal, Voltimum.

With Osram, Vent-Axia, Legrand, Nexans, Weidmuller and Elkay already confirmed, the area is fast reaching capacity and will comprise a meeting lounge, information centre and seminar theatre where the trade can come together to tackle issues ranging from energy efficiency and renewable energy through to security, power and control. Along with a raft of conferences, seminars and workshops touching on elements of the health and safety agenda, Interbuild welcomes a range of exhibitors bringing their latest innovations to market for the first time.

Organised by SummitSkills - the sector skills council for building services engineering - the final heats of SkillELECTRIC UK will be hosted at selected times throughout the full five days of the show. Already proven to be some of the electrical trade's most proficient professionals, the reigning champions from each of the regions (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) will come together to perform a series of practical challenges. The overall winners in the electrical trials will be dubbed the UK number one in their trade and could be invited to compete for the title of ‘world's greatest' at WorldSkills in 2009.

Working Buildings 2008

Wed 08 October 2008 - Thu 09 October 2008

Together, the events will feature over 300 hours of educational content, 400 suppliers of products, services and solutions to the built environment and will host the largest opportunity to network with those responsible for the UK's workplaces.

M&E - the building services event is an exhibition for professionals involved in building design, installation, specification and operation. Supported by Cibse, the ECA, BSRIA, the HVCA, BSEE and the IET, the event will explore key product areas including heating, lighting, ventilation, air conditioning, controls, security, and electrics. Visitors will be able to speak to over 100 of the industry's key organisations, including Andrews Water Heaters, LG Electronics, Potterton Commercial and Vent Axia.

Energy Solutions Expo is one of the UK's fastest growing event dedicated to clean, efficient, sustainable, renewable and alternative energy solutions for business. Sustainable practices are at the top of the agenda for everyone. The event is full of the latest technology, solutions and know-how, all presented in a direct and accessible way. Visitors can get advice from the industry's leading organisations including The Carbon Trust, Dimplex, Mitsubishi Electric and The Energy Institute.

Total Workplace Management is the one of the UK's largest exhibition for facilities and estates management and is organised in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM). Focusing on the efficient maintenance and running of a building's infrastructure, Total Workplace Management brings together product and service providers with FM and estates professionals and is a must-attend event for the industry. The event will provide an interactive forum to source the latest products and services, network with peers and pick up tips from FM experts.

The key theme of this year's educational seminars is the Roadmap to Sustainability. This series of free seminars will take delegates on a journey from designing sustainable business strategies and programmes, through to establishing green working practices all the way to the options for encouraging suppliers and customers to think and act sustainably.

All visitors to the seminars will receive a password for free access to the Working Buildings online Sustainability Starter Pack, which will provide information from leading professional organisations including BIFM, CIBSE, HVCA, FETA, the National Energy Foundation and others.
