Green Deal advisor course

Following approval to offer membership under the Green Deal, Napit has released dates for a new training course, the Green Deal Advisor course (GDA), available at training centres across the UK from September 2012.

This course will play an integral role in the delivery of the Green Deal, the government’s flagship policy to increase the energy efficiency of British properties, and will be an essential qualification for anyone wanting to operate as an official Green Deal Advisor. Only work approved by these advisors will be eligible for funding under the Green Deal financial framework.

The course, which ran as a successful pilot in July, will give candidates the skills and knowledge to produce Energy Performance Certificates and Occupancy Assessments, the findings of which will be used to compile Green Deal Advice Reports, using all new RdSAP, software for the Apple iPad.

Napit, in association with Plumb Center and Sevenoaks Energy Academy, has aims to provide a course that caters to the needs of individuals, recognising existing skills and expertise. The course can be taken be taken via four options which will save those who already have experience, like qualified Domestic Energy Assessors, both time and money.

Napit director of inspection services, Richard Gould, said: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of the pilot course, which ran back in July. The candidates were really enthusiastic about training that involved the new ipad application, developed by Plumb Center and Etech and designed to make the production of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s), Green Deal Advice reports and Green Deal plans more efficient and user friendly.”

“The course recognises candidates’ existing skill sets and allows for the upskill of knowledge they need to become a Green Deal Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor. We want to make it easy for people to get qualified, get involved and take full advantage of the exciting new opportunities presented by the Green Deal; and we don’t think those with relevant skills should have to spend money unnecessarily, ‘covering old ground’.”

This is a great opportunity to get involved in a policy which, the DECC predict, will support up to 60,000 jobs in the insulation sector alone by 2015 and effect over 14 Million homes by 2020.

With these courses, Napit offers a route to Official Green Deal Advisor status. Napit is offering discounts to existing members and for group bookings of between 10 and 50 people.
