Eland Cables awarded ISO 14001 Environmental Certification
Eland Cables has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, illustrating its current a
nd future commitment to minimising environmental impact. The ISO 14001 international standard provides both a model for streamlining environmental management and guidelines to ensure environmental issues are considered within decision making practices.
Eland Cables has become one of the first electrical cable companies in the UK to achieve the ISO 14001 accreditation. Eland attained the accreditation after a series of audits by Bureau Veritas Certification at their London and Doncaster sites. Both locations will be assessed annually to ensure continual development of the Environmental Management System (EMS) currently in place.
Eland Cables has achieved a huge reduction in materials sent to landfill, as well as a substantial reduction in wrapping due to investment in new machinery. In addition, all scrap cable and wood is recycled, plywood reels come from sustainable sources and wooden drums are reused. Future initiatives include reducing energy consumption, further increasing recycling and improving employee's environmental awareness. These will offer additional business benefits as well as an even greater reduction in environmental impact.
