Learn and Earn - VPhase offers free training to installers looking to benefit from the growing ‘watt watchers’ market

Learn and Earn - VPhase offers free training to installers looking to benefit from the growing ‘watt watchers’ market

Mon 22 March 2010

Electrical installers can now reap the benefits of being the first in the country to service ‘watt watchers' - homeowners, who want to save electricity costs, reduce wasted energy and make carbon savings across the home.  VPhase plc is offering FREE 2-3 hour workshops every month across the country to demonstrate a step-by-step installation of the voltage optimisation device and provide expert technical advice.

Recent trial results, independently verified by EA Technology, have shown savings in electricity consumption of between 6% and 12%. EA Technology has confirmed that these reductions could save the respective homeowners between £75 and £135 per year on their annual electricity bills. This equates to carbon savings of 390 to 708 kg per annum. This depends on the incoming voltage to each property and the type of appliances in the house.  VPhase works by reducing and stabilising the incoming voltage to homes and managing it to a stable level, normally 220V in the UK.

The training workshops will demonstrate how the maintenance-free unit can be easily fitted by a qualified electrician within an hour.  As well as receiving hands-on training, installers will be offered a 10% discount on any single unit purchased on the day and will be provided with supporting marketing literature for their customers

VPhase CEO Dr. Lee Juby comments: "The best time to fit a VPhase unit is when fitting a new consumer unit, but it can also be retro-fitted. We have tested the product on a wide range of household appliances and many will work more efficiently and use less electricity at a much lower voltage. Based on our back-to-back tests, on appliances such as fridges and freezers a VPhase unit can deliver a massive saving of 17%, incandescent light bulbs can show savings of 15%, and even energy saving light bulbs can save 10% with VPhase.  Once installed it requires no maintenance. It's simply a matter of fit, forget and save money instantly."

This is the event for you if you need answers to any of the following questions.

  • What is Arc Flash?
  • What is the definition of Live/Energised Work?
  • What is the Law on Live Working?
  • How can I predict arc flash severity?
  • What are the principles of the calculation methods?
  • Can they help me in my risk assessments?
  • How can I specify FR Clothing/PPE?
  • How can I design safe working space in front of switchgear?
  • How can it help my electrical workers to understand the dangers of arc flash?
  • How can I design out the arc flash problem?
  • You need heavy switching suits to operate switchgear don't you???

You will get first hand information about the direction of current trends is this very important area from the "horse's mouth" as Jim sits on the IEEE 1584 committee and is the author of the guide "How to Perform an Arc Flash Study in 12 Steps" published by the NFPA.  He is also currently writing NFPA's book on how to perform arc flash studies which is due out early Spring 2009.

In addition there is a chance to visit and tour the Building Research Establishment Innovation Park which features near zero carbon construction homes. An opportunity for delegates to find out more about the BRE fire testing and consultancy services  on the Burn Hall where the BRE has a world class reputation for fire research.

Interbuild 2008

Interbuild 2008

Sun 26 October 2008 - Thu 30 October 2008

Stanley Tools is ready to rumble as one of Interbuild's exhibitors at the 2008 event (Sunday 26 through to Thursday 30 October).

Featuring a full-sized boxing ring and all the accompanying paraphernalia, The Stanley Interbuild Arena will play host to a series of tool-to-tool battles with contenders drawn from the thousands of attending visitors.

The format, which continues the competitive theme of last year's popular Stanley Tools Judgement Day Challenge, is sure to be one of the show's biggest hitters.

The ring-fenced area will complement Stanley's stand presence within Interbuild's infamous Truck & Tool section.  Traditionally one of the show's busiest areas, the hive of activity in Hall 4 is entirely geared towards the professional trades, buzzing with ‘live' product and expert demonstrations.

Interbuild has once again joined forces with electrical and lighting internet portal, Voltimum.

With Osram, Vent-Axia, Legrand, Nexans, Weidmuller and Elkay already confirmed, the area is fast reaching capacity and will comprise a meeting lounge, information centre and seminar theatre where the trade can come together to tackle issues ranging from energy efficiency and renewable energy through to security, power and control. Along with a raft of conferences, seminars and workshops touching on elements of the health and safety agenda, Interbuild welcomes a range of exhibitors bringing their latest innovations to market for the first time.

Organised by SummitSkills - the sector skills council for building services engineering - the final heats of SkillELECTRIC UK will be hosted at selected times throughout the full five days of the show. Already proven to be some of the electrical trade's most proficient professionals, the reigning champions from each of the regions (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) will come together to perform a series of practical challenges. The overall winners in the electrical trials will be dubbed the UK number one in their trade and could be invited to compete for the title of ‘world's greatest' at WorldSkills in 2009.

Visitors will be able to speak to over 100 of the industry's key organisations, including Andrews Water Heaters, LG Electronics, Potterton Commercial and Vent Axia.

Energy Solutions Expo is one of the UK's fastest growing event dedicated to clean, efficient, sustainable, renewable and alternative energy solutions for business. The event will provide an interactive forum to source the latest products and services, network with peers and pick up tips from FM experts.

The key theme of this year's educational seminars is the Roadmap to Sustainability. This series of free seminars will take delegates on a journey from designing sustainable business strategies and programmes, through to establishing green working practices all the way to the options for encouraging suppliers and customers to think and act sustainably.

All visitors to the seminars will receive a password for free access to the Working Buildings online Sustainability Starter Pack, which will provide information from leading professional organisations including BIFM, CIBSE, HVCA, FETA, the National Energy Foundation and others.
